Turtle

Tortoises and turtles are animals with four legs scaly reptiles which belong to this class. Nation of animals called (order) Testudinata (or Chelonians) is distinctive and easily recognizable by the 'home' or shell (bony shell) is hard and rigid.

Tortoise shell is composed of two parts. The top of the back cover so-called shell (carapace) and bottom (ventral, stomach) is called Plastron. Then each part is composed of two layers. The outer layer of scales generally large and loud, and arranged like roof tiles, while the inner layer of bone plates such as the compact shell. Exception contained in the Labi-Labi (Trionychoidea) and type of leatherback turtles, the outer layer gone and replaced by a layer of scaly skin on the outside of the shell bones.

In the Indonesian language, we recognize three groups of animals that includes the nation, was to turtle (English: sea turtles), Labi-Labi or fleeced (freshwater turtles), and turtles (tortoises). In English, distinguished between tortoises (land tortoises) and freshwater turtles (freshwater tortoises or terrapins).
