How the turtle's shell is formed and evolved in the process of evolution, has not obtained a clear explanation. The oldest turtle fossils from the Triassic Period (about 210 million years ago), Proganochelys, was shaped like a turtle today. The difference, bones in the back not so wide and yet all of them together to form the perfect shell. Ancient turtles live and grow more or less contemporaneous with the dinosaurs. Archelon, for example, a giant tortoise body diameter can reach more than 4 m. The oldest turtle fossils found today are the ebrasal Odontochelys of about 220 million years ago.
Many species of turtles alive today are able to hide his head, legs and tail into the shell, so as to save themselves. However, some primitive turtles, such as for example turtle, can not draw in the limbs.

High pressure and constant, it has been derived many turtle populations to levels that are very alarming. Moreover, most of their natural habitat in rivers, swamps and forests has also contributed damaged by human activity. On the other hand, the tortoise population growth is very slow and mostly unknown even traits and habits. Therefore, conservation measures for these animals would be required.

A number of multiple items (on tortoises) by more than one hundred eggs (in some species of sea turtles) lay eggs laid each time, usually on a sand pit on the river or sea, to be stockpiled and allowed to hatch with the help of the sun's heat. Turtle eggs hatch after about two months (50-70 days) are stored in the sand.
The sex of a turtle that children born to one of them will be determined by the temperature of the sand where the eggs are stored. In most species of turtles, the temperature is above the average practice will result in female animals. And conversely, the temperature below the average tend to produce many male animals.

As many of you may already know, the name Kura Kura means 'Sea Turtle' in Bahasa Indonesian. This has been the Resort's name since the beginning of the previous ownership because this has always been the Island where the sea turtles would deposit their eggs; but then, unfortunately, they disappeared for years.
Since we took over ownership, it has been our Dream to let them find a friendly environment and to encourage them to come back... and now that Dream came true: the sea turtles returned to the island spontaneously. We have created a special sanctuary for them, a dedicated nursery, where we are feeding and protecting them until they get bigger and stronger, and then they will be released to the sea.
